Another K100D Newbie Question

Hey All, As I bought the camera slightly used along with a Vivitar 70-200mm zoom, is the first picture below normal for auto exposure? What are the default settings for saturation, brightness etc in the menu? Think the UV filter had anything to do with the picture being dark or the zoom, I don't mind post processing but to the extent I had to do the second pic. EXIF data available.

Thanks for help in advance
Barry

When exposing with something like a lot of bright sky in it you usably have to adjust as most cameras try to expose for some point like (13%-18%) gray. So for something like sky it will look darker.

Thanks Daz

I'm so used to getting a preview on a bridgecam's LCD, that I forget you need know about settings on a DSLR. I'll get the hang of it.

A quick way to handle something like the sample image would be to meter without the sky in the viewfinder and use the AE/L button to keep the exposure when you recompose.

Clear blue sky (pointing away from the sun) will provide the correct exposure. Hazy lighter sky will not.
