Ultimately, what do bad pixels mean?

Please review my gallery images, particularly the night shot. I have about 8 or 12 bright spots that I believe to be "dead" pixels. Is this a repair-able defect? With ~23000 shutter count, I have gotten a ton of use out of my trusty K-x, I was just wondering about the dead pixels.

The K-x supports dead pixel mapping. The supplied manual has instructions on how to enable it. Software like Lightroom automatically removes the dead pixels too.

Those don't seem to be bad pixels, just hot pixels caused by long exposure, even new cameras have those and it is not a defect.

thank you for the replies. I will try the dead pixel mapping and see what happens, but the explanation of hot pixel on long exposure makes sense.

They may be better visible in the flickr gallery...

Looking at this one, half a second at 800ISO, I'm definitely saying run of the mill hot pixels, especially if it was a hot day. I believe Flickr must have stripped some EXIF data, because I don't see temperature listed.
