Cokin P question

Hello,

I tried to search the forum and used the search site as well, but could not find anything related to it.

Just received my cheap cokin p ND filter set but something bothers me. It seems like there is 4 slot, but can't slide the filter into the first slot.

I thought the ND filter supposed to be flush with the lens so no light can leak into the lens.

I attached the image so make sure you guys can see what I'm talking about. I put a filter into the first slot! arrow pointing to the questionable space there.

Something supposed to be there?

Cheers,
Viktor

The slot you are referring to is intended for a solid black blind if needed.

I only see three slots here. that first little space may not be an intentional slot

I think I saw a video that someone had a lens protector in there.
Anyways, will I have a light leak there since there is a space in between the lens and the filter?
Is this normal?

Thanks
Viktor

Cool!

Thanks for the great pic!
So I'm guessing it's ok to have a space in between the filter and lens?

That first slot is where the Cokin PL is placed, at least on mine.

As others have said,
This slot fits either the cover or a "sprocket" filter (usually a polariser)

I've never noticed significant problems with mine if I leave it empty.

That's there for a polariser with the etch on the edges so you car rotate it

The first slot is not just for polarizers. Its for any type of filter that you might need to rotate, such as a star filter or multi-image refractor.
