K7 Won't keep date

I have a K7 - every time I turn it off (sometimes without turning off, the date resets to 1-1-09. How do I fix that?

I don't know the specifics of the K7 but cameras have an internal battery or capacitor to maintain settings when the main batteries are not in the camera and when these are drained the clock will need to be reset every time you take the main batteries out. Sometimes they drain if the camera is left without main batteries for too long. I've seen fixes for other makes that involve connecting the camera to a mains power source for a few hours.
