K-30 or Tamron 70-200.

I just bought a Tamron 70-200 2.8 and have a problem. My first shot was fine. Then then it was like the shutter slowed down and sometimes went twice on the next shots. A couple time the camera locked. and I had to remove the battery, a couple times the. I put another screw drive lens on and it is fine. I have since used the DA55-300, DA 35/2.4, and the Tamron 10-24 all and they work just fine. I have tried this several times.with the same results, each time starts with a good first shot. Monday will be the earliest I can test the lens on another Pentax camera, but until then, any ideas?

Maybe obvious, but are camera and lens contacts clean? Sure the lens is locking into the camera right?
Also wouldn't hurt to make sure you have the latest firmware installed.

My Tamron works perfectly on my K30. Suggest cleaning the contacts on the lens with alcohol on a q-tip. Do not pour alcohol on your lens, put a drop on the q-tip and rub it around the contacts.

No help to resolve your issue...but I have the same body and lens, mine work fine together.

Good luck...hopefully it's the contacts as others have suggested.

I had cleaned contacts without alcohol, lens locks fine, firmware is current. Thanks for the suggestions.

I did go ahead and clean the camera contacts and the lens contacts with the alcohol, unfortunately no change. Thanks for the suggestions.

Bummer. I'd send them both to Tamron, let them figure it out.

Take a small phillips head screwdriver and tighten all the screws on the lens mount and camera mount.

I tried it, the lens screws were tight, one of the camera screws moved slightly, but no change. Thanks for the suggestion.

The heavier lenses tend to make the screws back out; thought it was worth a try... Hope you find a fix.

An update, I sent the lens back to Tamron and they acknowledged a communications problem. I sent it in, got it back on Christmas Eve, just did a quick test and it seemed OK. Yesterday I got the first chance to use it and and it started doing the same type things again. I sent an email back to Tamron service last night, but have not heard back yet, I guess I don't expect to until the 2nd. This is frustrating.

I hope so, I figured it would have been fixed the first time. Interesting is that one thing they listed was "dust and debris in lens" and it was brand new. I figure them repairing a lens should make it better than new, giving that extra attention every lens off "the line" doesn't get.. The fact they didn't fix it makes me a little worrisome.

Ask for an exchange.... when I looked through the forum, of the 33 reviews, 3 people had to send them back, but people who got good copies seemed to be over joyed with them. I made myself a promise that if i ever got one, I'd make sure I could exchange it over the counter and run it throughout the mill for the first 7 days, just to make sure it was a good copy.

Tamron asked if I could send the lens with the camera, after some deliberations I decided that could be a good thing. After UPS taking a week to get it there, they fixed it and shipped it back, I got it today and everything seems good. I haven't got a chance to really test it well but hopefully soon. I have no complaints on Tamron's service except not getting it right the first time, but they were no hassle at all.
