OK, I downloaded Yvon's book which now has no typos, password requirements or watermarks and is basically perfect in form.

It is also exactly what I was asking for and is so much better than the factory manual. Check it out, and special thanks to interested_observer!

I'm one of those lucky people who retain what they have read quite well. It's at the "I know I have read it in <whatever book>" level, but it's a help. I read the operating manual for everything I buy before I use it.

It's really annoying to have this ability when you are reading novels, though.

My best advice is to avoid assuming your camera doesn't do something, where as some other camera does. The odds are good if it is possible on another brand/model, it is possible on your camera.

So long as you didn't miss the shot of a lifetime simply because you didn't even skim the manual, then when you are looking to do something different than grabbing snapshots, do a search or two on the pdf version of your camera manual. And if you STILL didn't find it. Come back to this Forum. Most likely the nomenclature for the function is a bit different than your search terms.

Do come back to the forum for info. We members just LOVE to show off that we know something you don't. Of course we learned it by coming to the forum for info ... but we hardly ever remember that's how we learned what we did.
