The comma is used in Europe where we North American people use a period to indicate the decimal portion of a number. .

I would change that to 'in some parts of Europe' - it isn't in my little corner of Europe

PENTAX for official publications, Pentax for other uses.
And for the record while Pepsi vs. Coke is a matter of opinion, there are very legitimate technical arguments for PC vs MAC and boxers vs briefs. The first is a matter of how and why you use a computer, either could be better. As for the second I choose boxers for reasons that would quickly dip into inappropriate for this forum if I explain them in depth.

They are both wrong. It's Ricoh/RICOH now

Darn - I missed the fourth one. Here's an amendment to my weak memoried list of stuff written on Takumar lenses.

Super Multi Coated
S-M-C
S.M.C.
SMC
'
And I am guilty of K10 - never heard of a K10 film camera. Minor correction, KX and K-X. The X is capitalized.

Unless it is Super-Multi-Coated.

Hyphens have a purpose and it is not good to deprive things of their purpose.

The case varies between various generations of lenses. I can't say that I have ever seen S.M.C. (or s.m.c.) though.

Only on the KX (film camera). The K-x (digital) is lower-case x.

They use "1:A Fmm " and "A/F" simultaneously, just to annoy pedants.
I am a pedant and "A/F" is different than "A / F". The latter is what is printed on the lens.

Ok, now that the grammarians have weighed in, the take away is basically it's all good and in many cases localized preferences. As long as we can communicate, who really cares?

PENTAX, Pentax, pentax - it's all good as long as a full frame camera emerges soon.
Better than Pantex*

Grammar

Grammar can be defined as: "The study of how words and their component parts combine to form sentences. b. The study of structural relationships in language or in a language, ..." The discussion in this thread does not deal with grammar, but rather with issues better described as capitalization and punctuation. I think internet practice is at fault: grammar check programs, for example, do not deal just with grammar but with the entire gamut of writing errors.

but never PENTAX
I always print all caps, but when typing am careful about case. That is, unless, I am online. In which case I might yell PENTAX when I am excited.

One is the name, the other the trademark? An acronym, perhaps?
