pentax m 75-150 on a K30

I recently purchased a used Pentax M 75-150

My camera is a K-30

I have followed all the instructions on the video and what was written.

TV Shift is set, Use aperture ring set, camera mode set to Manual.

Place the camera on a tripod at a fixed subject with fixed light source.

using the green button for metering there is no change when i move the apreture ring on the lens.

All shots regardless of the aperture number are taken at the same speed and deliver the same result.

As though the aperture was not working or stuck open,

Not using the green button yielded the exact same results.

Faulty lens ??

With the lens removed the aperture moves freely when the ring is turned.

Any help appreciated.

When you press the green button do you hear the shutter click as the light is metered?
I am guessing that you don't, which would indicate what boriscleto is saying, the likely option. Manually set your ISO if that is the case.

On the K-30 AutoISO isn't automatically turned off when you set the camera to M mode. All previous Pentax DSLRs automatically turned off AutoISO in M mode, but the K-30 inherited it's firmware from the K-01 which uses AutoISO in M mode as a pseudo TAv mode.

Thanks to you all.
No the green button didn't make a click.
and yes, ISO was auto, I turned it to manual and all now works as it should.
I didn't recall seeing that info before.

Very appreciated mates
