Turn off auto focus on K3 Shutter Button

Is there a way to turn off the auto focus on the shutter button and have it only work via the AF button on the K3?

Thanks.

Disabling shutter focus = set the AF button to 'AF2' in the 'button customize' menu - from this link.

Enjoy the K-3, I'm sure liking my K-5ii!

I've read a post by someone who confirmed that this function is available, but he didn't describe how to activate it. On my Pentax, I can turn this function off/on within the menus.

Perfect. Thanks.
Going to try this for a bit and see if I can train myself to use AF button.

If only it were that easy. My problem is it's grayed out.

Sounds like your dial is on AUTO (or "Green"). Switch the dial to any other setting, and then it should work.

Yeah, I usually "carry" on green. My thumb automatically goes to the AF button when I swing up the camera.

But I'm not sure if the U1,2 or 3 are essentially the same as green basically if nothing is set.

I have been using just the AF button for over a year now and love it. It seems to work much better for me and can't think of anything negative about it.
