K3 shutter problem

Hi all. Anyone ever hear of anything like this? I was doing a studio shoot this weekend with my K3, and at one exposure the shutter just kept firing in rapid succession. I had to turn the camera off (twice) to get in to stop. Obviously this type of thing can happen with any camera, but i have never experienced anything like this before. After turning the camera back on it functioned normally and i continued shooting for about an hour without any issue. Any thoughts on if this was just an anomaly or has anyone heard of shutter issues with the K3. I would hate to send it back as i am quite busy shooting currently and have some video work coming up that i would rather do with this camera rather than my back-up K7.

Thanks, jon Lisbon

How many shots did it take? Could it be bracketing?

no, it just kept firing, I would say at least 15 - 20 shots before i was able to get it to stop by turning the camera off and on twice. the first time i turned it off it just kept firing.

happened to me this weekend. OEM battery, full charge, fresh cards. Was only 10th or 20th shot of the day, then shutter started going off like a machine gun. no images recorded, but it was very strange. Sounded like a paintball gun when it runs out of air. Had to yank the battery to stop the shutter. Hasn't done it since. I was also in hi-drive mode

Hi all, had the same problem yesterday and today with newest firmware.
I will send it back tomorrow.
Question is: Can it be fixed by firmware update or is it a hardware related issue?

Mine was Silver Edition. First it happend while battery grip was turned on. Today it also happend while battery grip was turned of. Camera was firering in highest rate even the drive mode was set to single. It also had a strong back focus with the 16-50mm. All over cametas like K5, K10 or K01 did not had that focus problem with that lens.

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday at my Grand Daughters Birthday party, I had no problems with the camera before down loading the up date 1.03 now I don't trust it as everything is all over the place,so back to my trusty K20D. I feel that the $1240 I spent on the K3 body was a waste of money now.

FYI: This happened with my K3 while safari - just once. Fired widely, only stopped when I shut the camera down. No images recorded except the first. Have not yet installed the new firmware so the camera was using 1.0.
