I skipped the kit lens when I bought a used K10 without kit lens. The 16-45 suited me well enough. Now the 18-135 is the go-to for walkaround. The 16-45 is nice, but I don't use it as much anymore. At events it's nice though, since you can get a lot of image into 16mm and it's pretty sharp for a short zoom. Look for one used around $200 vs. $300-$350 for the 18-135.

I skipped the kit lens on my K-r and K-3 (those are my dslr's). My first lens was the 18-135... Which I bought before I owned a Pentax. Made the right choice.

That is a big plus in my book. I bought my K-5 with the 18-55mm kit lens, the only WR lens I own. I wish 18-135 had been on offer at that time, It's a very useful zoom range.

I love not having to worry about the weather when I go out to take pictures.
