K-30 low-light auto-focus

How do I control auto-focus in low contrast lighting?

Generally speaking, it's not the lighting but rather the surface of your subject that determines contrast. The K-30 has a built-in AF assist beam that will light up your subject when it's dark. If you have trouble locking focus, try pointing the camera at something with more texture and you should be in good shape!

Autofocus can be a little unpredictable in low-light depending on your setup and what you're shooting.
Is the AF assist lamp on? This can help a lot with autofocusing in low light.

Low light, polar bear, snow storm? You are going to get eaten before you AF camera acquires focus...regardless of brand.
