K-5 Firmware Version

I just checked the Ricoh/Pentax Imaging site for any firmware. I have v. 1.15 and the website displays only v. 1.14. What am I missing?

Which web site. Sometimes the newer versions of the firmware don't make it to all their sites at the same time.
This site has 1.15 - Latest K-5 Firmware Update : Software Downloads | RICOH IMAGING
whereas the Canada site doesn't. Software Downloads?Support?RICOH IMAGING CANADA

I have noticed that non-jp sites are often not up-to-dste. So I only use the jp site as a reference.

I think I am still on 1.13 or 1.12. Any good reasons to update?

From the RICOH downloadpage:

Changes to V1.15
  • Correspond to the AF assist light function by white LED light for auto flash unit [AF360FGZII] and [AF540FGZII].
  • Optimized contrast AF when using HD PENTAX-DA Limited series lenses.
  • Improved stability for general performance.*Contents of [Version 1.14] and earlier version will be also updated.
Changes to V1.14
  • Optimized contrast AF when using [HD PENTAX-DA 560mmF5.6ED AW] lens.
  • Improved stability for general performance.
Changes to V1.13
  • Improved reliability of recording operation when using SDXC memory card.
In particular, note the "Improved stability for general performance". One might assume that this could also be called "(minor) bug fixes"?

In theory that is how you should interpret that sentence. In practice I sometimes wonder if it means - we've changed a few things, that hopefully will make your picture taking a better experience. I think in the jump from 1.12 to 1.13 or 1.14 there was some debate whether more major issues had been fixed, if only partially, but not enough controlled tests were reported to be sure.

Is the version 1.16 update also for K-5 II and K-5 IIs cameras, as well as for the K-5?

K5 firmware 1.16 and O-GPS1

Hi All

I upgraded my K-5 with the latest firmware version 1.16 so I could use the new 1.4 teleconverter (which was great). However it now seems my O-GPS1 unit will not work with the camera. With a new battery the blue light comes on for a second then goes off, and the camera does not register that the unit is attached. It worked fine with version 1.15.

Any clues about how to get this working please? If it is a choice of the GPS unit or the teleconverter, I'd probably choose the latter. I guess I can always revert to the previous version if I want to do astrophotography again.

Thanks

Does anyone confirm that o-gps1 doesn't work with 1.16 firmware ok a K-5 body?
I've buyed the GPS unit, but it does not work on my camera... It seems to be that there's no comunication with the body.
Is it possible that ricoh did not fix that error (1.16 was relased in 2014)

However, how can I downgrade the firmware to the 1.15? On the ricoh site I can only download the latest version of the software...
Thank's for your help.

I cannot confirm. I am on ver. 1.16 and have no problems with the O-GPS1 / Astrotracer.
