Do not expect tack sharp photos all of the time with any DSLR using kit or lower quality lenses as it may vary with each lens/camera combination you use and the settings you use with them. Kit lenses on any new camera will not achieve the best IQ but they will produce acceptable results that can easily be enhanced through sharpening and correction in software as long as there is not a lot of motion blur. Sometimes as a last resort you may need to fine adjust your lenses with the camera body you are using. My new K5 ll's does better with my same kit lenses as yours than my K50 but it is supposed to. If your shooting jpeg you can customize the sharpness settings, in raw there is no sharping applied so it needs to be done with software. You have a really good camera and with any DSLR it takes time to learn to get the most out of it. More than the 90 day window you are concerned with.
