K-5 mirror hang

On occasion my mirror will hang up for a few seconds after pressing the shutter button - lcd remains black until mirror drops, then my image is displayed, just the way I exposed it. Occurrence seems to follow no discernible pattern. I have the updated firmware.

What think you?

Is the camera set to 2s self timer or 3s remote control by any chance? Those settings flip the mirror up, waits 2 or 3 seconds, then exposes the images.

No, and the exposure is made as soon as the shutter is pressed, that is, the image does not keep recording while the mirror is up.

I'm shooting jpeg, so I guess that means no PP? High-ISO NR set to auto, Slow shutter NR off.

It has happened during couple-of-seconds shots as well as hand-held 1/90 (yesterday) and you-pick faster speeds. Extended bracketing off, one-push bracketing off.

JPEG is the setting where you'd get in-camera post-processing, so I would check all your settings. You could always do a restore to factory settings.

Only a handful of settings are not at default or off: High-ISO NR, AF.S/C setting, Custom image.
