Weird K-5 focus problem

Hello

I suspect my K-5 might have got bumped during my last trip and I'm now experiencing a strange focus problem. When I use my Pentax DA 300 mm the kamera appears to focus (it looks sharp in the viewfinder) but upon closer inspection the image is NOT sharp where I wantet it to be but a short distance behing that point - always behind. Does anybody have an idea WTF is wrong?

Well, if it's consistently focusing behind your subject, it sounds like a positive AF adjustment might do the trick.

OK - is that something I can do myself or do I need to send it to repair?

If what you see in the viewfinder (VF) doesn't match what you get in the image, it may be that the focusing screen is misaligned. However, note that the autofocus (AF) system has nothing to do with what you see in the VF, so if AF is incorrect you'll need to do the AF adjustment as Adam suggests.

Edit: AF fine adjustment is a user operation.
