Mostly been all said already. So just one more.."it's not you". The Tamron 75-300 and newer 70-300 DI are purple fringe monsters in bright light conditions. Actually sharp and quite good otherwise in tamer light conditions. But I couldn't take the PF look and replaced Tamron 70-300 DI with DA 55-300.

No regrets.

Yeah, my experience exactly. I actually have some really good pictures (by my standards) that I took with the lens in the shade. I took a great set a couple of weeks back (also using focal lengths around 150-250mm) that almost made me re-consider my feelings about the lens. But any sunny spots that creep into the image are pretty much guaranteed to fringe terribly.

Glad to hear you had the same experience and were able to find a better alternative in the DA 55-300. It definitely validates what I've been thinking!
