Pentax X-5 aperture adjustment

Hey,
I have been trying out some shots with exposure with my X-5 Pentax camera and I have read the users manuel about this section but I am still confused about how to change the aperture. I would be EXYTREMELY grateful if someone helped!!!

I did quick review of the owner's manual for the X-5 and from what I understood you have a few options when it comes to exposure:
1. P Mode: Full auto
2. M Mode: Full Manual. Use the thumb dial to change the shutter speed or aperture. To switch between shutter speed and aperture, you need to press the -/+ button. You must leave the lens in the A position as adjusting the aperture is done through the body and not with the aperture dial on the lens.
3. Scene Modes - Like the P Mode, but the camera now knows what you're photographing so it will choose specific settings for specific scene types.

The X-5 does not appear to have either a shutter priority or aperture priority modes.

You can't set an aperture like you would with a regular lens. It only allows a couple of settings. It adjusts aperture with the use of internal ND filters.
