Please Note: The camera menu's "Reset" is NOT a factory reset

There seems to be a misconception that the Reset command in the K-5's (and probably other models) Setup menu performs a full factory reset.

That is not the case, though:

A true factory reset would also reset the AF adjustments that can be made thru the DEBUG menu, but it doesn't.

For instance, if you get a used camera and think you'll get it to reset everything - no, it won't.

But then, that's not truly expected from the Reset command, either. You'd not want to reset such adjustments usually, and other data, such as the internal counters for exposures etc. should also not be cleared.

So, yes, the Reset function is just fine as it is. But please do not call it a factory reset, because it isn't. A true factory reset would make the camera appear brand new and have all serviceable adjustments reset.
