Pentax k-x display not working

I have K-M/K2000 but believe the basic design still same for K-x.

If the power indicator (green LED) is on, likely the power is enough for the shut. If the shutter still operate correctly (took shut), then problem just the LCD display and buttons on back panel.

For the K-M, the LCD display and back panel buttons are on the back panel assembly and connect to the main PCB with a single "press-in" connector. There are no other mechanism to hold it down other than back panel itself. It is very possible it became loose in year of use due to vibration and shock. The connector is locate under about where the 4-way buttons are. Try to press hard on this area which may re-seat connector and establish good contact again.
