This lens was made by Tamron and rebadged for Pentax, it also was rebadged as a Promaster. I actually had the Tamron and Promaster versions that I won in two auctions in the same week a couple years back. Both copies I had were excellent. I sold the Tamron when I bought a K-30 with an 18-135WR. I gave the Promaster to my daughter and it is usually on her K-x. If it doesn't come with a hood make sure to get one, it will help considerably. It is a light plastic lens so be carefully. The person that bought my Tamron broke it in a fall.

I have the Promaster, and can confirm it's a nice lens. Very quick focus and at 70mm it's quite sharp. Get a rubber hood, though.

That's the non PZ f4-5.6 version, briefly released in the late nineties. The OP is referring to f3.2-4.5 version, released a year or two later, which is definitely a Pentax design. This FA 28-105 f3.2-4.5 is very compact for an FF zoom lens with it's range and features the same "ghostless" coating technology used in the FA limiteds.

I think if I drop my Power Zoom version, I'll try to jump clear so I am not crushed.

Sorry, My mistake! Hard to believe there are so many 28-105s.

I had one of those too, seemed like it weighed more than the DA*300.
