Can a lens increase FF over time?

Related to This thread

I own a Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 - Is it possible for the lens to go from working fine, to having FF issues - and the FF issue increase over time?

I have two K-30 bodies and experience a severe problem on one of them. That particular body was sent in for repairs, but they can't find anything on it - they are suggesting its a lens FF issues. But, that does seems weird to me. Or what?

I think that those service guys don't even dismantle the lens to check if all the glass elements are firmly kept in their places, because, in my opinion, and I have a little experience, that's the first probable cause of the problem. They say that's a lens issues, but if this was true, all those who have this lens will experience the same problem. And their are a lot, not only Pentax owners.

I've followed your misfortune and it seems as if the K-30 is the problem. I have a K-30, that started with severe exposure problems. I sent it in for repairs and received it back 3 months later, with a replaced "Mirror box".

I immediately had some problems again, but to cut a long story short, Iíve been a bit disappointed in the product....
So far I'm very happy with the K-5IIs I bought while waiting for my K-30 repair, and especially the silent shutter, and low light AF, with my DA55-300....I wanted the K-3, but it was just out of reach....

I would write off the K-30 that's giving you problems if I were you, as you probably will not get it repaired to your satisfaction, or to the level where you'll have enough trust in it, to do paying work with it again. If it's possible, keep the K-30 thatís working as a backup, and go for a K-5II/s, as they are very good at a nice price these days, or if money is no problem, go for the K-3 as main body

Thanks for the replies.

I looked through old photos, spanning about 2 years back. The problem first appears about 6 months after I bought the K-30's (both bought within a month from each other). Back then I would get focusing flukes here and there, but as I went though the photos, and just like I remember it, the camera body in question became gradually worse over time. Not even when looking back at those photos can I recognize a FF issue in the classic sense, which is actually also the only FF issue i know of, besides phase detection calibration being off, but that too would be easier to notice and test by myself.

I've sent the lens and will be waiting impatiently too see what the next mail from them will say.
