lens compatablity

I have a Tamron 200-500 F5.6 31A lens that I used with a film camera. Can I use this lens on a digital camera and if so what Cameras does it fit?

Do you know which brand of film camera this was used on? If Pentax it's probably K-Mount and can be used.

I believe that is an adaptall lens correct? If it was mounted on a Pentax film camera then it will also work with all k-mount Pentax digital cameras with some restrictions.

See here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/58-pentax-beginners-corner-q/110658-using...x-dslrs-f.html for some additional information on using manual lenses.

Also look here: Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 200-500mm F5.6 (31A) Lens Reviews - Tamron Adaptall Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database for more information on that lens.

Hi! Welcome to the Pentax Forums!

Your Tamron is an Adaptal-2 lens and with proper adapters can be fitted to many different camera bodies. There are two adapters that may be used with Pentax dSLR cameras:
  • "For Pentax K, M" or "P/K" -- supports stop-down metering in M-mode, has an aperture scale on the mount
  • "P/KA" -- has three electrical contacts on the mount face and offers full support for all exposure modes
A third K-mount adapter was also made that was intended for use on Ricoh program exposure cameras. I am not sure how that adapter is labeled ("Ricoh XR-P", I think), but it is potentially hazardous if mounted to an auto-focus Pentax body. Google "Ricoh Pin" for more information and how to identify the mount.

Steve

Get a KA adaptor for it and you are good to go. I have this lens it is heavy and needs a good tripod best one with a gimbal mount
