ES II requires holding of button for long exposures

In regards to the ES II requiring the holding down of the shutter button to get correct (especially long) exposures, "5tax" stated in another post in 2013, "You can either take it to be repaired, or you can remove the base plate and check the shutter release shaft and associated switch parts to see what is wrong."

Can "5tax" or anyone else elaborate on this, specifically, does resolving this problem require a mechanical adjustment or replacement/adjustment of an electrical part. Thanks in advance.

You can attempt to send a private message to 5tax or take a look under the base plate to observe the shutter interlock in operation. If it is something mechanical, the fault will be fairly obvious. Note that you may need a JIS crosspoint screwdriver to get the bottom plate off. The heads look like they are Philips, but they are not.
