*istD - focus blink doesn't work for one lens

Hi gents. Just acquired a couple of manual lenses in trade for a couple of Prakticas (woohoo!) and I've run across a weird issue: for one of the lenses, I can never get the focus indicator to trip. I've taken in-focus photos with it so why it doesn't trip is puzzling; I like the camera confirmation. =) My other manuals seem to have no such issue. Also, the EXIF lens data comes up as 'M42 or no lens', as opposed to 'K or M' if I use my other manuals. (And to head off the obvious question, they're all PKs.)

What's going on here?

The lens is a Cimko MT 28-80mm/3.5-4.5.

*edit: 'blink' in the title is vague, I know, but I couldn't come up with the right word until I started typing and then I forgot to change the subject. =P

Perhaps the lens is not shorting out the data pin on the mount. Try taping a piece of tin foil on the pin and see if that helps.

That did it. The mount is black, all my others are just bare metal, wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Thanks!

That has everything to do with it. Get yourself some sandpaper and remove the paint so mounting the lens will short the pin.

Will do. Thanks again. =) I think I'm going to require some coarser sandpaper.

You might. The finish may well be anodized and very hard to remove.

I ended up just using a sharp knife to scrape away the finish at the pin's point of contact. Worked like a charm.
