IR remote problem

I do most of my astrophotography with the IR remote to avoid vibration when actuating the shutter. Every now and then they stop working. They use those flat CR2025 batteries. Battery voltage is okay, I think, at least according to the multimeter. IR LED flashes as seen on IR camera. Twisting the remote sometimes brings it back to life for a while, then they die again. Actually die is the wrong word. They keep working, just that they don't trip the shutter. I have 4 remotes, different brands (but cheap Chinese) and they all do the same thing. What's going on? Cheap Chinese rubbish?

I think you may have answered your own question. With electronics, I find you get what you pay for. Buy cheap, you get cheap.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

You could also use the 2s delay timer in camera. This will usually engage the mirror early and there shouldnt be any vibrations left when the capturing begins.

Thanks guys. Yeah these remotes are really expensive ones at $1 each lol. The funny thing is, with the one that works for other camera models, it still works with the Nikon long after it's stopped working with the Pentax's. My old D70s must be more forgiving of dodgy remotes.
