K-7 firmware update

I have just downloaded the version 1.13 firmware update for the K-7, but when I put the resultantfwdc204b.bin onto my formatted sdhc card and switch on the camera whilst holding down the menu button, I just get the notification of the current version 1.12 and no "loading notification". I would greatly appreciate any observations on the problem, as to what I am doing wrong!

Did you put it outside of the DCIM folder?

Good luck to you on firmware!

Good luck to you on the firm upgrade. I bricked my K-5II in June, and still waiting to get it back!

Try a smaller SD card? I don't know if the K7 will update off a really big SDHC card. I've never had a problem updating my K7 though.

If you haven't done so, try formatting the card in camera, then transfer the .bin file to the card.

Ah, that would explain it. Place it outside.

Thanks savoche, but the card was formatted in camera prior to installing the bin file.

So move the BIN file and then attempt the firmware update. You don't have to format it again.

Thanks for that Adam, but I thought the DCIM folder was the root folder of the sdhc card?

No, the DCIM folder sits in the root, but itself isn't the root. Move the BIN file out to the same level as the folder, or just delete the folder entirely and copy the BIN file to the card.
