Remote control F ???

Hi:
I have a Pentax X-5 and only can get the remote to work about 5 feet from the front of the camera in totol darkness. It is even less in bright sunlite.
Is this normal for this unit ??

You should be able to get a bit more range, but you have to point it straight at the IR sensor.

No IR remote is going to work well [if at all] in bright Sunlight.
Sunlight is a portion of the electromagnetic radiation given off by the Sun, in particular infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light.

I get a lot more range from my cheap RC-4 remote than from the Remote Control F. I once tested it inside at 22 feet which was as far as I could physically get. Costs about $2 on ebay.

I bought three of those cheap eBay remotes. Every single one of them had the same problem, they wouldn't work until I removed the battery and put it back again. Plus that little blister button was not always responsive. I have the Pentax Remote E now and so far it's very good. Works with all my Pentax cameras.

A fresh battery helps the F remote a lot.
