K3 Live view

Just starting to use live view shooting and have noticed on my K3 the LCD display has a lot of noise and the view is not clear. Is it normal or is there some setting I have incorrect?

It is the same on my K50. I can't stand it. I always assumed it was normal which is why I strictly use the viewfinder.

Noise? You mean when the light is low? When light is at a premium the camera turns up the gain so that there is something for you to see. The noise is the result of the extra amplification. That is one of the hazards of looking at the live sensor output and is not limited to Pentax.

Could it be the focus peaking?

To this I'll add (based on K-5 experiences, not K-3) that under those circumstances it's also a fairly dim view through the viewfinder too, so the Live View is not necessarily worse than the OVF, just different.

I tend to use the viewfinder as much as I can. The live-view screen can be adjusted but I think it is useless in most instances except if it was articulated. Maybe Pentax will include that in their next DSLR.
