K-30 turn-on speed?

The K-30 has been growing on me, but it's noticeably slower to turn on than my K-x. Is there a setting I'm missing? I've tried turning off dust removal and allowing the shutter to fire without the flash, but these didn't seem to have any effect at all (understandably).

It should turn on and release the shutter within a second, but there will be slightly longer delay before you're able to access live view. Is that consistent with your experience?

Thanks Adam, I'm not quite sure. I didn't time it, but I think you can see what I mean here (apologies for the potato quality webcam):

Are you using the same speed memory card in both cameras? Factory or aftermarket batteries?

Just tested it again. No memory card in either, they're both using Eneloops from the same package.

What if you disable Dust removal on startup on both?

I mentioned in my original post that I've tried turning dust removal off and allowing the shutter to release without the flash charged.

Interesting. The reason I mention memory card is because the write to card light flashes as the K-30 turns on. I wonder if you should not try it with a card?

It's probably because you use a manual lens on K-x. It then ask for focal length used before it "initiates".
Try using a fully featured AF lens on both cameras.

Oops, sorry for the confusion. The video I posted had a memory card in the K-30, but I took it out after you mentioned it and tested them again.

I threw my 35 limited on the K-x and my 40 limited on the K-30 with seemingly no difference.

The difference seems to be less than 1/3 of a second. Is it actually troublesome, or are you just curious about the internal functionings?

It's not that big of a deal, it's just not fast enough anymore to turn on and take pictures while in the car.
