another vote for buy whatever the heck you like and enjoy it.
I personally do not tie any sort of fashion awareness to the appearance of my camera gear, perhaps the one object I may never be able to actually photograph since it shoots the photos, lol. That said, if all the cameras of the world were grey, i'd own a grey camera and be happy. On that note, if you like red, get it in red!

just buy whatever floats your boat and what makes you fell good. the only thing to consider is if you plan on selling it a later period, is that the red one might be a little more difficult to sell than the black one.

That yellow K-01 is hot!

I've had my bike swarmed by nasty wasps before. I was going on a bike tour and I had a big yellow dry sack on my rear rack. I learned a lesson that day.

Still, for that yellow K-01 + that strap, it might be worth it.

I very much enjoyed choosing the all black out of the 100+ color combos for my k-50.
It was a true personal choice.

If you like it then go ahead and get it. I think the colored cameras are cool and unique.

Just as a reminder, Pentax isn't the only co. making red DSLRs. C & N do it too, so it's not like you'll have the only one out there.

Even my white K-50 attracts attention, with people saying the white matte finish reminds them of a stormtrooper. If somebody actually sneered, or had something to say, I would just laugh, and tell them that I pity the poor soul that has to live with them. People that take the time to frown on something that doesn't affect them, are generally just looking for a reason to suck you down into their craphole. Honestly, I think it's a case of "one bad apple..." Most people are pretty congenial, or easy going enough, but a couple bad ones gives the impression that there could be lots of judgmental folks out there.

From what I've seen that might not be true. The red ones seem to resell fairly well actually. I don't think it's much to worry about. Not everyone likes basic black. Many people like red. I think it's been a pretty popular color for cameras actually. Whenever I see a red model go used it goes fairly quickly unless it's way overpriced or something.

I bought my k50 in metal green colour. 98% of the cameras are black n silver. Just buy whatever makes you feel good

Yeah, its not what looks like outside, it is what's under the hood.

Buy whatever makes you happy. One thing though... At least the K-30 felt cheaper when it was in a non black color (IMHO). The plastic was glossy and not textured, and that didn't feel nice... not as nice as the same camera in black.

I ended up buying a black camera. I wanted to buy from a local, independent camera shop and all they had left of the two lens kit was the black.

I am okay with that, I might buy a red tripod though.

I am really extremely happy though, the K-50 kit is a well implemented system at an awesome price.
