Or you could follow the advice of Joe McNally. The last two photos at the bottom of the page show his preferred "super steady" camera hand-holding grip. Looks strange but I have tried it and it is rock solid. He is pretty entertaining to read in any case.

I've read his books, and, just like in the article, he points out that this kind of grip works for him because he's left-eyed... it gets a little less practical if you're right-eyed, and then it's no use to be left-handed because the shutter button is still on the right side of the camera...
