K-30 doesn't control diaphragm anymore!

My K-30 has just turned into a glorified K-1000 and my DA* 50-135 into a 1000$ paperweight. When I press the shutter the diaphragm closes at maximum no matter what I set it to be. I've looked at the contact on the K-30 and everything seems fine. Bought the camera 15 months ago. I guess I'll take it back to the store but I was wondering if it's a known issue or just very bad luck.

On the good side it's like being back in the 80's. With my M 28 f/2.8 set at hyperfocal distance I'm ready to shoot anything! That green buttion set at measuring exposure time is great!

I believe this has come up with the K-30 before. See https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/58-troubleshooting-beginner-help/229294-k...ml#post2760880

Thanks, seems a lot more common than I'd hoped. Good thing it is still under warranty.

Yes, we had a flurry of posts about six months ago regarding failure of the aperture control. This was happening even on cameras that were very lightly used. Most were about the same age (early production mainly). This problem is one of few associated with the K-30. I am glad yours is still under warranty.
