No F-stop number listed when starting K30

When I turn my K30 on in AV mode with my FA28mm lens attached all I ever get listed on the LCD is F--
Is there anything I can check, I have tried re-seating the lens and tried auto mode as well with no difference

Any ideas?

Clean the contacts? Any issues with your other AF lenses?

Turn the aperture ring to the "A" position or enable the use of the aperture ring in the custom setting menu

Ah, had it all the way over, didn't realise there was a push down button. I was using the ring to set the AV values for my photos, the F-stop values I chose for my photos will still be valid?

The aperture ring is only used in M mode. If you are using the ring you have to use stop down metering with the green button. In AV mode the camera will only shoot wide open if the ring is not set to A.

They will if you used the green button (stop down) metering. If not, the photos were taken wide open.
