K-50: Can't Enable Shake Refuction

I have a K-50 with an M42 lens screwed and I can't enable shake reduction in any mode. I can see the option in the menu but it's greyed out and can be selected.

Anyone know how to get this enabled? I thought the benefit of this body was that shake reduction is done in the body, not the lens.

I have had it not prompt for the focal length and restarting it has helped.

I'm in M, TAv, Av, and Tv. Not 2s delay or HDR.

It's a manual fixed lens if that matters.

What shooting mode is set? There are a number of things which if selected will disable SR but as far as I can remember none of them are related to the lens. If the 2 second timer, 12 second timer or Remote Control shooting modes are enabled then SR is disabled. There may be other settings as well but I don't recall them.

You need to go into your record menu, E dial programming and for M change it from Pline to TVshift.

Have you shut it off and removed the battery and restarted? Set all menu items to default etc?

Just figured it out!

I changed "Using Aperture Ring" from 1 to 2 (shutter will release when aperture ring is not set to the "A" position").

Now shake reduction is available.
