You'll need to downgrade to 1.30 when are are ready to do fine adjustments for the AF if your lens if it back or front focuses. Folks here on the PF have done that.

They have downgraded the firmware? As far as I know, that is not possible on a K10D; might be mistaken, though.

There is more than one thread about this. I searched and this is the first one I found:

It downgrades to 1.10. From there you can jump to any version.

I never upgraded my own camera past 1.30. I don't upgrade unless I need to.

Checked Chapters/Indigo in Canada - they do list the book but Not in Stock online

And what with the $exchange Ebay may be out of the question eh what???

Chapters/Indigo has a button to click for a used copy, although it doesn't say whether the book is in their stock or some other vendor. Amazon.ca, ABE Books, and Alibris books all list used copies, although all of the vendors are in the U.S.

I tried that and found that the firmware is 1.31 and whether that is the latest I will just have to explore again

Am expecting a new SanDisk SDHC (Class 6) card to arrive today or tomorrow and use this one as I have been told this is better with the K10D CCD sensor. So if firmware needs updating we ill see where we go from here.

Missed the "USED" Copies when I looked at Chapters/Indigo.

Will revisit and see what we find soon.

As to used book stores - Family & Friends extremely busy with work and family life.

All in due time. I definitely don't advocate purposely going out and shooting at 1600, 800, or even 400 ISO if I can help it. But there are times when you just have to do it. I also didn't even try until faced with necessity, and it probably took a couple of years of infrequent practice to get comfortable with what it takes to get a good 1600 ISO shot out of the camera.

After a certain firmware revision (which number I don't recall) one could change ISO by pressing and holding down "ok" button and turning the front wheel. Very useful.

I found that the Magic Lantern Guides book on the K10D written by Peter K. Burian to be a great help in learning how to use the camera. (Published by Lark Books; ISBN-10: 160059185X; ISBN-13: 978-1600591853).
