Green button wasn't working on k50

So I was out yesterday with my new k35/3.5 and the green button was not responding. I either had to turn off the power or switch to a different mode on the top dial thenswitch back to manual and it would work. Also while it wasn't working, the front dial would not work either (shutter speed) until I switched modes and back to manual. Anyone else have this problem? I've been using a k135 for a while now and never had that issue so not sure what was going on.
Thanks

And it seems to be working fine right now. Not sure if it was from the cold but it was only in the low 20s. I've been out in colder temps with no issues back in January. So not sure.

Is it possible it was some other problem? Like the lens not being totally mounted (it needs to click into place), camera in Av mode, auto ISO, Green button customized to some other function?

Definitely wasn't in the wrong mode or the button being set wrong. It's possible the lens wasn't on all the way as that lens is much tighter than any other lens I've ever used. But it did work correctly a few times. And it did work after changing modes. I'll have to take it out again soon and see if I can duplicate the results. I live east of cleveland so the weather should be complete crap for a few more weeks at least.

If the contacts on the body don't make good contact to short out on the lens mount then the K-30 for sure (and I assume the K-50 as well, since they're very similar) will not meter with the green button in M mode unless you're in live view. You can test this with an M42 lens that doesn't short out the body contacts, or with no lens, to see if it's the same behaviour.

Not sure about the front wheel not working.

What he said.

Clean the face of the mount on the lens with alcohol and see if that does not help things a little.
