My K-50 has just gone insane

I went out a shot a few pictures of roses and other flowers then I came in the house and started setting up to take a still life. I changed the shooting mode from bracket to 2 sec delay and took a shot. The image was almost completely whited out and the camera cycles, actually exposing a frame about every 2 or 3 seconds. I've removed the battery, cycled power and even attempted to do a reset, all to no avail. Any suggestions or do I need to call Pentax?

Sounds like you accidentally put the camera into interval shooting mode. but, I dont know if the K 50 has that.
Scratch that. I would think a reset would change it back to single frame.

I went to the reset menu, selected reset then OK. It didn't actually appear to do anything so I don't know.

This was my first thought too, but I checked that and it isn't really acting right even for that mode. I'll call Pentax tomorrow and see what they say. I'll probably end up sending it in for service.

On the good side of the situation is that I went ahead and ordered a second body which I've been wanting to do but didn't have a good reason until now. A new-to-me K-5IIs is on the way courtesy of KEH Camera.

Actually, I was replying to sundr to confirm that the K-50 does have interval shooting mode, not agreeing with his idea
Hence the comment highlighted in red.

Perhaps updating or re-loading the latest firmware in the K50 might help? Obviously if the board has gone funny or its a hardware issue then this suggestion probably wont help!

One easy thing to check before you send it out. Make sure all of your dials and toggles are in a detent. If any are 1/2 way between one setting and another, then strange things can happen. It has happened to me more than once. So check mode dial, AF/MF switch, any others (I don't know the K-50 so I'm unsure what is controlled by dials/switches and what's controlled by menu.)

NaCl(a simple check and it might save you a lot of hassle)H2O

Too late "Saltwater" the camera is in the hands of the US Postal Service on its way to Connecticut. For what it's worth, I had already moved all the dials through all the different positions, all to no avail. Thanks for the suggestion anyway. Basically it's the main mode dial on the top right and the AF/MF switch. I think it's brain is scrambled; they'll probably replace the logic board.

Thirteen days later and it is back in my hands cleaned and repaired. I had heard horror stories of 6 to 8 week turnaround or longer so I was prepared for a long wait. I am pleased to have my K-50 back. Now to get back on my feet so I can use it!
