K-30/K-5II s Plus Sigma 150-500mm

Hello out there! Just bought a Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 DG APO OS HSM lens and it doesn't work on my K-30 or K-5II s. All I hear is the lens motor humming when mounted to the K-30 and nothing mounted to the K-5II s. The manual focusing doesn't work either. I Just want to be sure it's the lens and not the combination with the bodies. Does anyone own this lens and use it on either bodies?

According to B & H Site, this lens will work with the K-5 IIs. Sounds like a lens issue ....

Hi,
I don't know about your bodies, but I have the 150-500. The motor and manual focus worked fine on my K-5.
FYI, I did send it to Sigma cuz the focusing was off, but I didn't have the type of mechanical issues you are having.
Good luck. It's a good lens when it works right.

Definitely sounds like an issue with the lens.

My Sigma 100-300 has a push/pull focusing ring that I think might be a clamp or manual focus switch. I thought it was broken at one point when this ring was pulled. I'm not sure if the 150-500 has this, but it may be worth checking.

New or used? A few years back they had a batch with "possible" AF motor issues. I can not recall the serial number range, though.

The 150-500 does not have a focus limiter. It has an AF/MF switch, but If set to MF the motor wouldn't have made any effort to focus at all.

Its a focus limiter? Interesting, I didn't realize that. I know my FA 100 has it, but its a small dial.

Or a zoom lock, or MF switch. Not really familiar with the lens.
