I have a dead K50 - help

I was shooting away today, then, it would not fire. It gives me F-- in the eye piece info display and the same F-- on the rear screen where the f-stop is shown. I see nothing in the manual about this, the battery is charged, the card was not even close to full.

Any ideas?

Which lens? Does the lens have an A setting on the aperture ring? If so, is it set to A?

I was going to say that sounds like a lens issue.
@OP - what lens are you using? Can you try another lens if possible?

Also, try cleaning the lens contacts

You need to go in custom fuction menu and set USING APERTURE RING (c22) to "enable" if you using manual lens without A setting

F _ _ means the camera cannot see the lens. Either the aperture ring is not in 'A' position, the contacts are dirty or the lens is faulting.

While true, it should not matter in this case as the OP states it was functioning correctly so it is not a manual lens that requires the "Using Aperture Ring" function.

You are right, I didn't read it carefully...

No worries, I just did not want the OP chasing this as a possible solution. It certainly would not hurt to turn that on but I think in this case there is something else wrong.

Try taking your lens off and putting it back on, and cleaning the contacts if that doesn't help.

it's a lens issue - either the contacts are dirty or the lens' aperture ring is off 'A' ....

EVERY issue I've had with my K-30 has been resolved by changing or recharging the battery. Even if I started with a full battery. Hoping it's the same for your situation......

I removed, then reinstalled the lens and it's fine. Lens is a Sigma 50-150 f2.8 HSM version
