RAW blown exposure, jpgs and thumbnail aren't

Can't understand this occurence, presumably user error
K-5iis shots look correctly exposed on camera, in thumbnails and the jpg using RAW+ is good...
but the RAW when opened in Faststone and Raw Therapee are blown by miles...
using -0.3 compensation, jpg natural, centre weighted, DNG, current fw

must be some silly little thing
cheers for any clues
Pete

That sounds very odd. Can you give us access to the raw file in some way?

Maybe the editing program is set at +2 exposure or something like that? I open the RAW files first with picasa and for two seconds I see the real image like it was shot and after that it shows me some kind of auto settings over exposed.

Are you using Neutral profile in Rawtherapee?

Faststone opens the embedded JPG first, press 'A' to load the RAW (in case you didn't know this).

But honestly, it's not the greatest RAW processor. RAW Therapee is better, Lightroom the best (IMHO)
Can you post an example DNG?

I hoped it was that but 2 editors are doing it (FS and RT)

The camera does that to me sometimes. I've asked before and nobody knew then... Here's hoping we find something this time

yeah I know but it's the best viewer, RT is much better processor, LR not an option.

It would really make it a lot easier if you were to upload the RAW files, so we could see what's going on in the shot. Also, I'd recommend opening the files in FastRawViewer, which will show you the true RAW histogram so you can see what there is to see.

I would recommend using Google Drive, if you have a google account. Just go to Drive, => Pictures, and then drag and drop the file, and make sure to allow access to everyone.
