Resetting image counter

On my last holiday I used a new card and exceeded the 999 total on the image counter of my K200D. I have now cleared the card but the counter will not revert to 001 no matter what I try. Can anyone help me out here?

I'm not sure if the K20D has a reset option or not- if it does, it would be in the setup menu.

However, if you create a file called IMGP9999.JPG in your current image folder, the camera should reset the file numbering the next time you take a photo and it should wrap around to IMGP0001.JPG.

I wonder which counter you're talking about. The counter in the top LCD indicates the (estimated) remaining number of photos on the card. 999 is the maximum that it can indicate. As long is there is space for more than 999 photos, it will indicate 999.

Read the (english) manual (page 43/44) and calculate If you don't have it, you can download it from Operation Manuals Download : Support & Service | RICOH IMAGING

A 1GB card can hold roughly 200 best quality 10MP jpegs or 58 raw images.
