Shooting a mens NCAA night Lacrosse game.

Hi, My name is John. I am hoping some of you could offer up some pointers on this topic. Have been shooting LAX for about 2yrs, but only one other game under the lights. Use a Pentax K 50 with a Tamron 18-250 lens also a k 20d with a 100-300 sigma lens. Last time pics got progressively worse as it got darker out, as expected. However the k20d shot acceptable images into the 3rd qtr, the K 50 shot almost until the end of the 4th qtr with acceptable pictures but then even they became blurry. Shooting from the sidelines and no flash allowed. I look forward to hearing your input on this topic. Thank you, John.

My advice, you will need a lens with a constant aperture of F4 at least but 2.8 would be even better. The only other way you will get enough light will be to slow down your shutter to a point where the movement will be so blurry you would never be able to use the shots anyways....but they would be bright!

+1 on the F 2.8 lens.

I would also increase the ISO. Raise it up as far as you can with out excessive noise.

No much info on the lenses posted, but if you use your Tamron as a telephoto you can maybe swap the lenses. I suppose your Sigma has better aperture in 100 mm+ range compared to the Tamron so if you use it on K-50 the results could be significantly better.
