When my battery lug broke in my K30, the camera still worked even without a spacer added to the battery compartment. I had mine repaired simply because I still had a month of warranty left.
Note ......I purchased mine from Canada so I had a 2 year warranty.

Is your battery charged and still good?

I will check if I have the AA adapter . I purchased many accessories and believe that's one.

I have been using mine without the retainer for a while now; no foam, just held in place with the battery door. I haven't had any problems. It should work even without the retainer, so keep trying.

I wonder if you could wedge a piece of paper or something into the battery compartment to hold the battery in place and avoid extra tension on the battery door. D-Li109 batteries, especially the generics fit pretty snug in the battery compartment already.

Mine broke today. Both AA batteries with the adapter as well as the original lithium battery still work though, and are held in by the battery door. Hope it holds up ok like this as I'm not going to repair it. I've never liked the way batteries are retained in the K30 and the battery door has always felt so cheap to me even from the first time I touched it.

This thread resurrected from nowhere. I'll give an update...Mine broke back in 2015, camera still sees more or less daily use, still not a problem. I don't wedge anything in at all, just close the big door, and it's held the battery in fin for the last 2 years.
