K-r Date and Time Help

I have a Pentax K-r that forgets what the date and time is each time it has its battery changed, anyone got any ideas how I can resolve this please?

Internal battery is dead. This not a user replaceable item either.
Not too uncommon in later Pentax DSLR cameras either. Not sure if it's worth the bother of a service, takes only seconds to reset the date/time.

Probably a capacitor died and not a battery. The same has happened with my DS.

Going forward, if you keep a charged battery in the camera at all times you'll minimize the likelihood of draining the backup battery.

My K110D does this. I thought they all did. Change batteries and lose the date and time.

It's not normal behaviour. It happens when the supercap (read battery) that powers the clock (when there is no normal battery in the camera) is dead. It's unfortunately not a user-replaceable part.
