You will have to remove the top of the camera to get to the screws from underneath.

There is a repair thread somewhere on this site but I can't find it, the user showed pictures of removing the top of a K-5 I think.

If it is under warranty you should send it in.

Sorry to hear that. Call in for a warranty and send it in. They should be able to fix it for free. There were some bodies albeit a handful that came in with less than optimal under screws for the hot-shoe I think. My K5-ii had this problem and the flash popped off while running with the camera. They may be able to fix it for cheap if not free. Do not attempt to fix it yourself as it still is under warranty since it is only 8 months old. There are seals that if not done right may end up compromising the WR.

My K-3 had this issue when it was pretty new. I sent it in and it was fixed by CRIS and returned promptly. No charge.

You're welcome.
No, they have changed who does their service but that is the place to send it now.

Excellent work from Precision Camera, they received my Pentax K-3 on May 15 to repair the Hot-Shoe and May 18 was repaired. I received it yesterday May 21 by UPS. Hot-Shoe was replaced, Autocross Test, Check, Calibration and Realignment, Firmware Download, Address Values Measured and Adjusted complete cleaning (internal-external). All under Pentax guarantee. I was able to go through the process of working through the webpage of Precision Camera.

Thank all of you for your good advice.

Wow, maybe Precision is turning over a new leaf. There have been a lot of complaints about them lately. Glad it worked out , and speedily too, for you.

That's great to hear. Maybe Precision was just having a rough start with Pentax and they are getting better now. At least that's what I hope!
