The K-50 is essentially the same camera as the K-30, just different styling. The K-S2 is a completely new design. I don't know what risks might be present on late manufacture K-50s. It may well be that Ricoh fixed problem in the later production runs. If it were me, I would buy a new K-50 body at the current very low prices ($308 IIRC) along with the 2-year warranty extension for an additional $20.

I've been having the same problem but it goes away if I switch to Live View
