Hi

Would anyone know what code is applicable to Pentax K5 and/or K7? I am trying to use a "Oneforall 8" universal remote control. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I used to have a palm pilot. Yep, where are they now? Anyway there was a pentax remote for palm pilot. if you download it, open the readme file and it explains the infrared code for pentax.

Hi. Thanks for your input but Canon is not in the list of codes. I am trying to use a universal TV/VCR/DVD remote so I don't think it will show any camera code. But I understand that one/some TV codes will work with a dslr, including Pentax.

If you can get it to do this (taken from Calsan's link), great:

If your remote can learn IR, borrow a friend's Canon remote (for their lower end models) to teach it the sequence.

I bought a cheap remote not long ago but its range is too short and it not IR. I have read success stories using universal tv remote control but can't find the link anymore. Hopefully, someone here has gone that road and will let me know how to do it. Cheers.

Most remotes have a setup method where you use the channel buttons to scroll through frequencies to find the one your device will respond to. Try setting up the camera in remote mode and just scrolling through the remote outputs till you get a shutter release.... Or is it not that simple?

If your remote only lists TV stuff, your guess would be as good as mine. If you have an Android SmartPhone, you might be interested in the DSLR Remote App (by bitshift). If provides excellent Pentax support using the phone's IR blaster.

Cpt. Obvious here: Your phone must of course have an IR transmitter built in. I suggest going to GSMArena to check the specs.
