Da 60-250 autofocus problem

My Da 60-250 on my K5iis won't autofocus. I also cannot get the menu screen when the lens is on the camera. Everything works fine with the DA 16-50. Any quick fix suggestions? I am travelling in Corsica and cannot get to a repair shop.

Try cleaning the lens contacts, re-mounting the lens, and ensuring that there is no damage to the mount. Sounds like an electrical problem to me.

DA 60-250 autofocus problem

Tx for the tip. I cleaned the contacts with a Q Tip without success. I will get some alcool from the pharmacy tomorrow.

Could it be the motor burned out or maybe you have the camera set to MF.

I don't know about the motor yet. I will definitely clean up the contacts tomorrow but the AF button on both the camera and the lens is on.

Does the camera recognize the lens or does it ask you to dial in a focal length when you turn on the camera?

The camera does not ask lens info when turned on.

i cleaned the contacts with alcool with no success. I get "MF" icon flashing constantly. I have not used this lens a lot so I would be surprised to have a burnt motor.

Actually, not using the lens for a while can be just as bad as using it too much. You may have to get it checked out.
