Lens calibration

Hi,

Does anybody know how to test the lens whether or not it needs to be calibrated for focus?

By the way I wonder how many of you guys using IN-CAMERA lens corrections? Distortion correction alone for example makes images softer. I've turned this off but not sure if any other correction will also affect IQ.

It also slows down burst rate... I have it disabled on mine and correct in Lightroom instead.

If most of your photos are a bit soft and then a small fraction of them are sharper then, you know you need to align your camera with that lens. I believe this is an underrated factor with super telephoto photography. The only best way I know is to use Lens Align and when you have you camera perfectly aimed at the ruler on that tool, it will show you if your focus is off. Double check it also.

this is my post, but I found this to be the easiest and so far the only one that has corrected my issue (knock on wood) I had to do adjustment for all, then one for my lens.

I wouldn't worry about calibration unless you're currently getting blurry images, though.
